Types of Rehab
There are many types of drug or alcohol rehab programs available today. Through our wide network of programs we are able to offer most varieties to you or your loved one. When we talk to you about a rehab program most will fall into some basic categories. Those categories are:
Outpatient Rehab
Outpatient Rehab refers to a program which you do not stay overnight at. This is a vague distinction as outpatient rehab can refer to once a month for an hour to 6 days a week for 8 hours. the longer programs are sometimes, but not always referred to as IOP or Intensive Outpatient Programs.
That being said depending on the severity of your drug addiction or what your family, insurance (click here for more information on insurance) or court order requires a variety of outpatient rehab may be a good choice for your situation. There are many advantages to outpatient rehab. You can often still work while attending them, you can go home to your family if the program is near where you live. Also usually outpatient programs are much more affordable than residential or inpatient programs.
There are also distinct disadvantages to outpatient programs, really the same aspects of outpatient rehab which are attractive can also be many of the same thing which prevent success. We find that many of our clients find the most success when they are able to check into a residential or inpatient program.
Inpatient Rehab
Inpatient rehab usually refers to a program which takes place over a longer period of time and is more intensive than an outpatient program. Inpatient programs typically last 2-6 weeks. Residential programs are of a similar nature but when a program is referred to as "inpatient" it has some type of medical aspect to it. Whether that means that you will have access to doctors, stay in a hospital or be co-treated for another physical or mental ailment will depend on your specific situation and the needs that you express.
We have several facilities across the country which provide excellent inpatient rehab. Some of us who work here on the help-line have even attended these programs and remain fully sober and functional to this day. All of our employees who have been through rehab and work for us have multiple years of sobriety and love sharing their experiences and giving back by offering their insight to you on which program will best serve you.
Residential Rehab
Residential rehab is a very effective format to treat the disease of addiction. The programs are often in a retreat or resort type setting and you spend much of your time interacting with other guests and staff, attending classes participating in 12 step meetings and focusing on living a happy, fun sober life.
typically these programs are also 2-6 weeks but many of them have longer term programs which prove to be successful as well. Some individuals choose to stay for a month and some live and work for years at residential communities. The choice is yours to make.
